Lou Reed: Classic Albums – Transformer

Transformer, Lou Reed’s second solo album, took him from cult hero of The Velvet Underground to international superstar status. This film in the C;assic Albums series takes a track by track look at the album, which was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson.

In an exclusive interview in New York, Lou Reed talks of the making of the album and together with Ken Scott, the original engineer, takes us through the multi-track tapes of ‘Perfect Day’, ‘Vicious’, ‘Satellite of Love’ and ‘Walk On The Wild Side’.

In May 2011, Neil Young brought his solo tour to Toronto’s Massey Hall, an iconic venue in the city of his birth. Demme intersperses the Massey Hall concert footage with brief scenes from a road trip through Ontario, where Young visits the rural town of Omemee, where he spent a key part of his formative years, and reminisces about his former neighbors and their daughters.

Profile of legendary country music star Johnny Cash, who died in 2003. This first major retrospective of Cash’s life and music features contributions from his daughter Rosanne Cash and son John Carter Cash, his longtime manager Lou Robin and fellow musicians including Little Richard, Cowboy Jack Clement, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Elvis Costello.
