Phil Collins: Classic Albums – Face Value

In the three decades since the album’s appearance, Phil Collins became an international solo star – but many still consider Face Value his finest album. This hour-long documentary has Collins himself providing the bulk of the commentary, openly discussing how the lyrics to ‘In the Air Tonight’ wrote themselves after his painful divorce and explaining why a drummer would ever use a drum machine.

Also interviewed on camera are engineer Hugh Padgham, Genesis colleagues Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford, producer Ahmet Ertegun and many of the studio musicians. Songs such as ‘I Missed Again’, ‘The Roof Is Leaking’, ‘This Must Be Love’ and ‘In the Air Tonight’ are accompanied by Collins’ own and previously-unreleased concert footage.
